a high of 24.

In my preliminary planning for the garden, I took a seed inventory and decided I did not need to order any new seeds other than onions and shallots. Which was such a sweet and optimistic idea, because thus far I have ordered:

  • Auntie Wilder Beans
  • Tansy
  • Rue
  • Moldovian Dragonhead Blam
  • Marjoram
  • Lavendar
  • Toothache Plant
  • Chervil
  • Self Heal
  • Mint Mix
  • Juane du Poitou Leeks
  • Jebousek Lettuce
  • Cairns Family Heirloom Rutabaga
  • Bloomsdale Spinach
  • Extra Early Pedigree Peas
  • Simpson Okra
  • Pride of Wisconsin Melon
  • Borrie’s Yellow Watermelon
  • Ancho Gigantea Pepper
  • Fatalii Pepper
  • Feher Ozon Paprika
  • Fish Pepper
  • Habanero Peach Pepper
  • Australian Brown Onion
  • Zebrune Shallot
  • Apollo Arugula
  • Purple White Top Turnip

My list of special skills does not include editing myself well. In my defense, some of the things I ordered are to interplant in the orchard. I’m excited about some of the new options. I’ve never grown rutabagas or leeks before, and some of the peppers are new to me as well. While space is a concern for the garden, I have lots of pots kicking around that I can use as well.

I am so, so ready for spring.
