a high of 23.

I lost a duck. I have absolutely no idea what happened, as there isn’t a single trace. I’m moderately concerned an animal finally conquered the coop defenses, but realistically it may have gotten locked out and carried off by coyotes or some other animal pulled off a mid-day poaching.

That’s the thing about living on a farm and having animals – it’s not so much that I’ve become numb to animals dying, but I accept it as part of the life. It wouldn’t make sense to be devastated every time a chicken or duck dies. I do my best to provide them the best quality of life possible and have to quickly move on when one of the lives ends.
